    Lydra Arkaxhiu is a senior compliance manager in the head office of Assicurazioni Generali Group. Arkaxhiu is a qualified lawyer with a Bachelor of Laws degree in both Italy and Albania. She has strong compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) expertise in main global financial institutions.

    After three years at a law firm in Milan, Arkaxhiu started her compliance and AML career as a legal and compliance manager for General Electric Capital Bank SA. Afterward, she became head of compliance banking advisory for UniCredit Group and subsequently head of legal, compliance and AML for UniCredit Trust Company, handling investigations, conducting controls and managing sensitive AML and compliance issues directly dealing with supervisory authorities and law enforcement offices.

    In 2015, Arkaxhiu joined the compliance function in Assicurazioni Generali Group at Milan’s headquarters. For the first three years, she focused on a wide variety of financial crime topics spanning Asia, the Americas and Europe. She managed the definition and implementation of group compliance standards to support the design of effective financial crime compliance programs and monitor the appropriate implementation based on the size, nature, complexity and risk exposure of the business.

    In early 2018, Arkaxhiu was appointed group compliance coach where she provides ad hoc support to newly appointed chief compliance officers worldwide. She defines and delivers “tailored” coaching programs based on the concrete needs of the chief compliance officers. These needs include the identification of the compliance risks to their evaluation using a risk assessment process and methodology, driving the chief compliance officers through the different ways of mitigation and monitoring of the risks, and supporting them in reinforcing and maintaining an appropriate and efficient internal control system.

    Arkaxhiu is also an active Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) member and she participates as a speaker and trainer for different ACAMS initiatives.
