    Biography

Teri grew up on a farm in south east Texas.   In 1967 she came to Colorado to attend CU receiving her BA in 1970 and has been married to the same great guy since 1971.  When her youngest daughter started school she bought Betty Edwards book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.  She loved the process so much she has been drawing and painting ever since.  She still has the original folder of work.

“My career as an artist has suffered from diversions and pauses over the years, as often happens with mothers, wives, and women in general.  But I have always found my way back to painting.  I continue to take classes from artists I admire because there is always more to learn and a higher level to achieve.”

She has been a signature member of New York City’s Pastel Society of America since 1993, won awards and been juried into the exhibitions of Salmagundi Artists, N.Y., Knickerbocker Artists, N.Y. International Association of Pastel Artists, and Scottsdale Artists School ‘Best and Brightest”, among others.  She was also one of 4  artists  featured in

the  Pastel Journal 's  "Painting the American Landscape”.

Since 2016 She has taken a break from entering her work in competitions and limiting her gallery exposure to spend time pursuing photography.  An adventure begun mainly as a way to improve  her skills in composition.  However, it quickly moved into the number one creative outlet.  It has been a perfect addition to her tool kit. Traveling to Africa, Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Cuba to mention only a few has provided  a wealth of new material to interpret and  translate into pastel or oil.

In 2019 Teri  has once again begin painting in earnest, filled with excitement to combine her new found skills with the old, returning to her first love. . .pastel.  Oils will still be in the mix though, so stay tuned.
